Marin Independent Schools

Founded by parents in 1967, the Lycée Français La Pérouse is an academic institution accredited by the State of California and the French Ministry of Education. It belongs to a network of over 400 French schools worldwide and receives substantial financial support from the French Government. The Lycée offers a preschool through 12th grade education to French, American and students of other cultures.

The Lycée is an American private school with a French public school curriculum. Lycée Français La Pérouse is run by the parents, with financial responsibility residing in the Board of Directors, elected from among parents and other community leaders. Pedagogical direction, however, is provided by the Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Etranger (Agency for International French Education) under the guidance of the French Ministry of Education.

Our mission is unique, as is the cultural diversity of our student population. This produces a blend of structures and traditions particular to our school.

Facilities
The Lycée has three campuses, two in San Francisco and one in Marin County, a twenty minute drive north of the Golden Gate Bridge. In April 2006, the Lycée purchased the Conservatory of Music of San Francisco which accomodates the Middle and High school since September 2007.

The newly renovated San Francisco campus in the Ashbury Heights neighborhood of San Francisco houses the Lycée's administrative offices, and has classes from preschool through 12th grade. The 4-story building has two enclosed playgrounds, an auditorium, library, two computer labs separate shower rooms, kitchen, multi-purpose room, two new fully-equipped science labs, and a gymnastics room for exclusive use by the preschool classes. The Internet is in every classroom.

The Marin campus, in the town of Corte Madera, is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. It is surrounded by green parks with open-space hiking trails nearby. There are three playgrounds, a gymnasium, enclosed gardens and soccer, baseball, basketball and volleyball grounds adjacent to the school. The campus features a music studio, computer lab, and a bilingual library/videotheque. Students can attend preschool through 5th grade on the Marin campus.
