Secondary - 10th grade California field trip

In November 2010, 10th grade students went to South California in Lompock and Santa Barbara areas for a 7 days fieldtrip.
There were several targets for this study :

First, to have a practical approach of the geography syllabus in 10th grade (“water as a fundamental supply”; “feeding people”; “cities and their sustainable growth”; “coastal areas, most desired territories”).

Second, to have a practical approach of the history syllabus about the birth and development of California during19th and early 20th century (California missions and European growing sphere of influence; contacts with local natives Americans).

Finally, to be involved in the daily work on the farm in order to understand the difficulties and requirements of these very demanding jobs which are crucial in California. The students spend 2 days picking-up artichokes and cabbage.

Please find hereafter, what students have done as after trip study. The 2 classes (34 students) were split in small groups (4 or 5 people) to produce a summary about the farms visited but also about more general subjects (“California Missions” and “Water”).
