We’re ready for a great new school year!

The summer is coming to an end. At LFSF, the season was busy and productive!

Our campers had a blast - and learned a lot too! Our famous summer camps were under the supervision of our Camp Director Stanley ZELPHIN. “Zen” invited children to discover the human body, focus on relaxation and mindfulness. “Be all you can be” inspired campers to be bold and explore their whole selves, whether in arts, sports, theater or dance. “Voyage, Voyages” finally took them away across the world to learn, explore and imagine through a wide range of activities. All these camps optimized outdoor time and include art, sports and beach days.

During that time, our amazing maintenance team led by Cupertino PALESTINA had the opportunity to fully inhabit our campuses to make significant improvements and repairs in advance for the Fall. Besides annual upkeep (landscaping, painting, repairing, pressure washing outdoor furniture… ), important projects were tackled including a Bouldering Wall on the ASH campus, installing new SMART boards and additional security cameras, initiating a facelift of the ORT library, … Weeks of work to make sure that our campuses are safer, better equipped and more beautiful than ever for the return of our students.

Our IT and communications teams were also busy migrating the entire secure part of our website to a new platform that should allow for a more integrated experience for our families, from the time they apply and throughout their LFSF journey.

And now…we’re ready for a great new school year!

Alejandra NAVARRO will be joining us, as our new DEIJ Director. She will first spend time meeting and listening to our various constituents to identify the priorities that make sense for our community and our school and will spearhead our important DEIJ work.

Our Global Learning program will send a full grade of students to a new destination directly linked to their program for the year. From Gr4 to Gr12, the program will allow students to enjoy the incredible power of education outside the classroom as teachers translate classroom learning into a rich variety of travel experiences. Students emerge from these programs with superior speaking skills, new-found confidence and knowledge. Logistically, these trips will be planned so that most leave on the same schedule, limiting the impact they can have on organization and staffing on campus.

This year, the focus will be on Music, both pedagogically and philanthropically! From a pedagogical perspective, while music is and has been an integral part of the LFSF program throughout the primary and secondary levels, we will focus on further developing musical opportunities for students proposing a rich and varied curriculum of discovery and experiences. From bands to choirs, from shows to musical tours, we aim to bring a world of musical opportunities to our students. The approach will be purposely inclusive as we believe music is an art form for all to enjoy, regardless of its genre or its context, from a rigorous and academic practice to a playful and social tool to help students connect and belong.

DEIJ, Global educational trips and Music : these are three of the many exciting projects we look forward to working on this school year and that will further strengthen our programs, widen the range of opportunities offered to our students and deepen their connection with their peers and their school community.
