A Star-Studded Masterclass: Drama Students and Les Marchands d'Etoiles

Drama Students Meet the Stars Behind Les Marchands d'Etoiles

Three images show the students during the theatre masterclass led by the creative team behind the play "Les Marchands d'Etoiles".

Our Gr9-10 Drama elective students had a truly special encounter this week, coming face to face with the cast and creative team behind the award-winning play Les Marchands d'Etoiles (The Star Merchants). In an immersive masterclass led by the theatre professionals themselves, students were given a rare window into the world of contemporary French-language theatre.

An Encounter with Award-Winning Theatre

The writers and directors of Les Marchands d'Etoiles guided students through a series of hands-on exercises that blended improvisation with directorial technique, giving them a feel for the play's universe from the inside. Through these activities, students didn't just hear about the show, they inhabited it, exploring how scenes are shaped, characters are built, and stories are brought to life on stage.

A Lesson in Elocution from a Molière Award Winner

One of the highlights of the session was a dedicated workshop on stage elocution led by Guillaume BOUCHEDE, last year's Molière Award winner for Best Actor. Students received first-hand coaching on projection, articulation, and the art of owning a stage, guided by one of France's most celebrated performers working today.

Coming to our Stage

The excitement doesn't end with the masterclass. The full company of Les Marchands d'Etoiles will be bringing their production to our school community over two separate performances:

  • Thursday, MAY 14 : Exclusive performance for students
  • Friday, MAY 15 at 7:30pm : Performance open to the general public

This is your opportunity to see a Molière Award-winning production at the TLF. Get your tickets here.

Gr8 students working hard to defend their arguments

What do you do when there is no easy answer? When an issue is too complex to be settled by a simple debate, with winners on one side and losers on the other? This is the challenge at the heart of cartographie des controverses (the mapping of controversies), a pedagogical approach that our students have been exploring this year through a compelling real-world topic: the exploitation of the Arctic.
