A Week of Movement, Effort & Joy: Celebrating Our Annual Decathlon

Last week was marked by one of the most spirited and joyful events of our school year: our Decathlon, Mini-Decathlon, and multi-sport activities featuring students from PK2 all the way through Grade 5. This celebration of movement, effort, and camaraderie brought our entire community together in an energizing and deeply meaningful way.

A Showcase of Ten Disciplines

Students had the opportunity to showcase their skills across ten disciplines, such as hurdle jumps, high jumps, relay racing, endurance racing, balancing, and more, each one designed to test a different physical ability and bring out the best in every young athlete.

The students themselves said it best: "Everyone really likes to do sports at our school, and it's fun to be with friends while we do it," shared one student, while another simply beamed, "I'm very excited and happy to play sports."

Growth Beyond the Finish Line

Throughout every event, we watched our students engage both body and spirit: setting personal goals, rising to challenges, and discovering the joy of self-improvement. Whether it was a first attempt at a new skill or a chance to better a previous performance, each student learned to measure success on their own terms, honoring their own progress rather than comparing themselves to others. We witnessed children celebrating each other's efforts, showing immense resilience, and taking pride in their achievements.

These are the exact values we hope to instill for life: determination, self-confidence, and a healthy sense of competition grounded in empathy and self-awareness.

Congratulations to all our Lycée athletes, and a huge thank you to our staff and parent volunteers who made this spectacular week possible!

What do you do when there is no easy answer? When an issue is too complex to be settled by a simple debate, with winners on one side and losers on the other? This is the challenge at the heart of cartographie des controverses (the mapping of controversies), a pedagogical approach that our students have been exploring this year through a compelling real-world topic: the exploitation of the Arctic.
