The Lycée Cantine: a shared experience for students across all grades

At the Lycée, we believe that learning, well-being, and community are deeply connected. The Lycée Cantine is an expression of that belief: a shared space where students of all ages come together each day around good food, conversation, and care.

Launching in Fall 2026, the Cantine will be part of daily life across all campuses.

It is included in tuition for all Preschool students and for all new incoming students, and will be gradually integrated for all students by Fall 2029. This phased approach reflects our commitment to making student well-being a foundational element of the Lycée experience.

Fresh food, made from scratch and thoughtfully served

Cantine meals will be prepared in the Lycée professional kitchen built thanks to the generosity of our community through the Fund for the Future. This purpose-built space allows meals to be prepared fresh each day by our partner Acre, a Bay Area leader in school-based food programs known for its commitment to real, healthy food. Meals are prepared from scratch using seasonal ingredients and locally sourced produce whenever possible.

A shared moment in the school day

Across all grade levels, lunch is a time to pause and connect. Sitting together, students exchange stories, strengthen friendships, and develop social skills that matter well beyond the table. Rooted in l’art de la table, the Cantine invites students to slow down, share, and appreciate the simple pleasure of eating well together. This approach encourages students to explore new foods, listen to their appetite, and enjoy meals together at their own pace.

For Preschool students, meals are delivered directly to the classroom, creating a calm, familiar setting that supports young children as they build independence and confidence.

For older students, lunch is served buffet-style, offering choice and autonomy. Each day includes a hot entrée with a vegetarian option, seasonal side dishes, homemade soup, a salad bar, locally baked breads and dessert.

The Lycée Cantine is not just a meal service—it is a lasting investment in how students experience school every day. From Preschool through High School, it reinforces the idea that education happens in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds—and around the table.
