LEARN MORE: START UP LYCEE 2024 | OPEN LEARNING

Start'Up Lycée, an annual competition organized by the Lycée, is designed to familiarize Gr10 students with the launching of a startup.

Integrated within the Economics and Social Sciences (SES) curriculum, Start'Up Lycée offers students a platform to enhance skills acquired throughout the academic year, such as research, persuasive writing, and presentation or 'pitching'. The aim of this competition is to have our student working together in groups of 4, to find their own innovative solutions to already existing problems.

This year, our students were lucky to be able to spend the final day of the competition in the Amazon offices, in order to fully immerse themselves.

This year's theme? It's all about food!

Our students were tasked with imagining, designing, and building a startup along with its business plan, aiming to convince the jury that their idea is the most impactful. They could adress 4 type of challenges :

  • Feeding the world sustainably
  • Food for all
  • Revolutionizing eating
  • Shaping the future of gastronomy

Out of our 9 talented teams, three found their way to the podium : MealMate, Tidal Hydration and, securing the third place, MyChef.

On MARCH 20-21, the two winning teams, will compete against other North American International Schools (including Lycée Français de Toronto, International School of Dallas and Lycée Français de Los Angeles) in the Deloitte offices in San Francisco.

However, the challenge does not end with college admissions and the ability to adapt and succeed in the new university environment is just as critical.

Before children begin using books, paper, pens, or tablets, they first learn how to live together, build friendships, and resolve conflicts. These fundamental, lifelong social skills are initially practiced on the playground and then intentionally nurtured through circle time, reading, class discussions, school plays, and clubs.

Our students participated in the AAEH contest

The theme of the 2025 edition is 'Francophonie: A Journey Through Time and Space'. Our students tackled this challenging topic with great skill, exploring what the French-speaking world means to them and the difficult, often problematic conditions under which it was formed. At times, they connected the subject to their personal histories, while also reflecting on how speaking French has proven beneficial in their lives.
