School Admission FAQs

La Petite Ecole (LPE) is an introductory, French language immersion program, available on our primary campuses located in San Francisco and Marin for children as early as age 2.

This program comes with two options.

• The part time program is held every week day until 12:30pm.
• The full time program is every week day and ends at 3:30pm in the afternoon, It includes a nap and can be followed by after school activities

Applicants to La Petite Ecole will only start the program after their 2nd birthday. 

Applicants do not need to be potty trained to attend this program.

No. You can choose between the part-time option or the full-time one.

The afternoon program is as flexible as you need it to be. You do not need to notify us ahead of time. If you are not here at 12:30 pm to pick up your child, she/he will simply be transitioned to the afternoon program until you arrive.

Can I pick up my child before the end of the day?
Yes. You may pick your child at any time between 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm. The program is completely flexible once you enroll. Simply note that its cost is one flat fee for the school year.

Only children entering the LFSF French Track at the Elementary, Middle or High School level, need to have strong enough foundations and vocabulary in the French language in order to successfully learn and thrive.

In order to assess their level, applicants may be required testing to confirm their ability to benefit from the French Track program.

There is no French prerequisite in the International Track.

A $150 application fee will be processed online at the time of application.

Application deadline 2025 

The first admission committee will prioritize applications submitted before January 19th 2025. 

All applications received after January 19th will be reviewed on a rolling admissions basis.

LFSF grants awards to students enrolled in Preschool through Grade 12. La Petite Ecole students are not eligible. We strongly encourage all families, new and current, to apply for financial aid if they believe aid is needed in the upcoming school year.

Yes. Financial need and awards are recalculated every year using current information. 

No. All students are expected to maintain solid academic and personal standing within our school community.

No. School Financial awards are solely based on a family’s demonstrated need. However, high school students (Gr9 through 12) can be considered for the Seona Herail Scholarship which is a merit scholarship granted upon recommendation from a pedagogical committee.

For its Preschool and French Track program, LFSF is part of the international network AEFE (Agency for French Education Abroad) of French School across the globe. The network counts nearly 500 schools and is represented in 137 countries.

The International Track is powered by the International Baccalaureate organization. Similarly to the international AEFE network, the IB is globally renowned for its excellence. There are IB World Schools in over 150 countries/territories and over 5,000 IB World Schools worldwide. Universities across the globe recognize the strength of our Diploma Program (DP).

LFSF is also a member of the CAIS (California Association of Independent Schools) , NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools) and WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) associations.
