Introducing the French track

AUTHENTIC FRENCH PROGRAM

At LFSF, the French Track provides students with the highly regarded French national program. Its curriculum has the homologation from the French department of Education ( see LFSF partners for more information).

What makes the French Track unique?

  • An authentic program delivered by outstanding teachers. LFSF teachers* are responsible for the professional training of teachers in other French American schools of the North American zone.
  • A strong percentage of French speakers in the classroom helps non French speakers pick up the language in the efficient, playful and seamless way.

*A group of teachers at the secondary level come to LFSF with a professional training mission.

FRENCH IMMERSION PROGRAM

In the French Track, French is the language in which students learn. Most of the curriculum is taught in French, therefore students need to be comfortable in that language in order to be successful.

AFTER PRESCHOOL, MAKE YOUR OWN PATH

Preschool prepares children to become successful students whatever path they choose. At LFSF, students can opt to continue on with a French immersion French track, or the International track that proposes a well-rounded program in English with some French.

At LFSF, whatever the track, students are encouraged to explore and follow their passion. See how we support them.

The French track at a glance

The French Track is a continuous program that, from Kindergarten to Gr12,  provides students with a rigorous, French immersion program, completed by a strong English program that prepares them to receive a French Baccalaureate and their US High School diploma.

Starting in Gr1, students transition from learning French to learning in French. For this reason, it is important for students entering the French Track to have a good level in the French language in order to benefit from it. If your child does not meet the French language requirement, you might consider learning more about our International Track.

THE AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL SECTION AT LFSF

The program in the American International Section [AIS] is rigorous.

French track students may be enrolled in the AIS from Gr1 all the way to Gr12. Students enrolled in an IS are taught the core syllabus as well as specific courses enabling them to follow advanced classes taught in English.

From Middle School, in the French Track, two subjects are taught in English:

•  Language and Literature: more than a language class, this course includes the study of English literature.
•  History and Geography: the French curriculum is adapted to include a greater emphasis on the history and geography of the United States of America.

A winning partnership

LFSF is part of the AEFE network that counts nearly 500 schools and is represented in 137 countries. Schools of the network are very international in nature and welcome students of many different nationalities who grow up sharing universal humanist values.

Being part of the AEFE network validates the conformity of our school programs with the requirements, programs and pedagogical objectives of the French system. It also presents a great advantage for our students who can relocate or study abroad in any other school of the network.
