AUTHENTIC FRENCH PROGRAM

At LFSF, the French Track provides students with the highly regarded French national program. Its curriculum has the homologation from the French Department of Education ( see our partners for more information).

What makes the Lycée French Track uniquely exceptional?

  1. An authentic program delivered by outstanding teachers: Teachers at the Lycée are highly regarded and are responsible for the professional training of educators in other French American schools across North America.

  2. A high percentage of native French speakers in the classroom: This immersive environment allows non-French speakers to pick up the language in an efficient, playful, and seamless way.

  3. Expert educators with a training mission: At the secondary level, a group of teachers brings their expertise to the Lycée with the specific purpose of enhancing professional training within the school.

These elements come together to create a truly exceptional and effective French learning experience at the Lycée.

The French track at a glance

The French Track is a continuous program that, from Kindergarten to Gr12,  provides students with a rigorous, French immersion program, completed by a strong English program that prepares them to receive a French Baccalaureate and their US High School diploma.

Starting in Gr1, students transition from learning French to learning in French. For this reason, it is important for students entering the French Track to have a good level in the French language in order to benefit from it. If your child does not meet the French language requirement, you might consider learning more about our International Track.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT IN THE FRENCH TRACK

The French Track is a language immersion program: about 80% of the curriculum is taught in French and students need to be comfortable in that language in order to learn successfully. In order to properly assess their level, applicants may be required to test to confirm their ability to thrive in our French Track program.

If you are interested in our International School but your child does not have any French language, you may consider our International Track program for which there is no French language requirement.

From Middle School, in the French Track, two subjects are taught in English:

•  Language and Literature: more than a language class, this course includes the study of English literature.
•  History and Geography: the French curriculum is adapted to include a greater emphasis on the history and geography of the United States of America.

A winning partnership

The Lycée is part of the AEFE network that counts nearly 500 schools and is represented in 137 countries. Schools of the network are very international in nature and welcome students of many different nationalities who grow up sharing universal humanist values.

Being part of the AEFE network validates the conformity of our school programs with the requirements, programs and pedagogical objectives of the French system. It also presents a great advantage for our students who can relocate or study abroad in any other school of the network.
