Be ready to laugh with our favorite "internationally unknown" stand up comedian: Clara BIJL

Clara BIJL was born in Paris, France, raised in the Alps, attended schools in Germany, Switzerland, and South Carolina; then one day, she moved to New York City to begin a career in stand-up comedy. Performing all around the US and Europe, she became a prolific writer of cutting, witty, internationally flavored comedy.

Clara now lives in San Francisco and we are delighted to count her amongst us this year again for the 2021 edition of the LFSF Auction Gala!

''Being French makes me a stranger living in another country. My French accent is still behind my words but I have lived here for so many years now that it is not something I insist on. I am talking on stage as I am talking in real life.  People don’t see me as a French woman on stage. French is a part of me, it is my culture and I use it when I need to bring another perspective to see the differences in our cultures that still surprised me.''

MEET OUR CO-CHAIRS

We are proud to introduce our Gala co-chairs, Betul MALIK and Laura RAGSDALE.

Betul is the mother of Milan and Mylo in Sausalito. Betul was our gala Chair last year.  After seeing the in-person event canceled, she stepped in again to see things through, this time as co-chair. Betul is always ready to open her house to host the volunteer committee and is generous with her help in looking for amazing live auction donations.

Laura is the mother of Conor and Alexandra on the Ashbury campus and Miles who will start preschool next September. Before co-chairing, Laura led the donation committee for 2 years. Laura brings quick and decisive yet easy going leadership to the team along with a great sense of humor.

We are grateful for their leading an amazing group of volunteers; in particular, Farinaz Agharabi, Patricia Cangas, Henda Cheikhrouhou, Stephanie Cheng, Karine Christin, Denise Ford, Yoel Gorfain, Lisa Got,  Emily Hoverman, Eunice James, Céline Jourdan,  Clarisse Kostrzewski,  Catherine Lelong, Stava Leung, Hyun-Jung Vernay Kim, and more who will surely sign up :).

MAY EVERY CHILD SHINE BRIGHT

The Auction gala is an evening WITH THE STUDENTS, FOR THE STUDENTS.

The Auction gala is an evening WITH THE STUDENTS, FOR THE STUDENTS.

The event will feature our bright eyed, talented and kind hearted students from all three campuses. They will speak and perform, all in the hope that you will support this year's FUND for the FUTURE.

The LFSF Board of Trustees set out to actively make Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice a priority and make them the pillars of our school's culture. We aim to dismantle inequality on a systemic and systematic level.

Our objective during our virtual gala is to raise funds to achieve the following:

  • 100% of our students will go through ‘unconscious bias’ learning, integrated into the curriculum.

  • Consistent unconscious bias and antiracism training for all staff, students, and parents.

  • Build coalitions with local schools to foster connections, share best practices, and enhance understanding.

  • Incorporate DEIJ into daily activities to nurture an inclusive learning environment.

  • Hire a DEIJ point person

Violin Solo | Scheherazade

Chiara CELIK will do the honors of opening and closing the Gala with a violin solo, “Scheherazade”

composed by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and based on One Thousand and One Nights tale.

Show your gratitude: Invite and Treat a Teacher!

This has been an extraordinarily challenging year for our academic teams. After swiftly moving online, our teachers were amongst the first ones to be back on campus for the benefit of our students.

Show your gratitude and appreciation by treating them to a Faculty/Staff gourmet meal or snack box on our event registration page.  (Indicate the name of your guest in "Special Accommodations" Section, no need for additional information).

Don’t forget to also register yourself to attend the live auction and entertainment along with your guest!
