CURRICULUM IN THE MYP

Spanning Grades 6 through 10, the MYP emphasizes interdisciplinary learning, critical thinking, and real-world applications. It encourages students to explore global contexts, fostering international-mindedness and personal growth. The program is structured around eight subject groups—language and literature, language acquisition, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical and health education, and design—ensuring a balanced and holistic education.

OVERVIEW

Our MYP Language & Literature program fosters a love for reading, writing, and creative expression while building critical thinking and communication skills. Using the California State Standards, students will explore diverse texts and genres, which provide a rich lens into global cultures, histories, and perspectives. We strive for a balance of modern and classical literature from a variety of modalities from across the globe. Through engaging activities such as analyzing literature, crafting compelling narratives, and exploring media, students grow as independent thinkers and confident communicators.

By connecting classroom learning to real-world issues, students not only deepen their understanding of personal and cultural identities but also cultivate a global mindset. Whether it's through examining themes like justice, identity, or sustainability, or by engaging in collaborative projects, our program equips students with the tools to navigate and contribute meaningfully to a complex and interconnected world.

Since IB MYP is student-centered, please note that all texts are subject to change based on student interest, need, and skill set.
