La Petite Ecole, from age 2

This program comes with two options.

• The part time program is held every week day until 12:30pm.
• The full time program is every week day and ends at 3:30pm in the afternoon, It includes a nap and can be followed by after school activities

The programs follows the school's academic calendar.

For the 2023 2024 school year, La Petite Ecole will welcome children born between JAN 01 and DEC 31 2021.

La Petite Ecole tuition levels for the 2023 2024 school year are published early 2023, both for the part time and full time options.

Tuition does not include daycare or other after-school activities.

In La Petite Ecole, your child will learn to speak and participate in class. With regular prompting and questions, children learn to be verbally active within a group.  The main objective of the year is to provide student with the vocabulary they need to express themselves fully while using increasingly complex sentences.

OBJECTIVES FOR THE YEAR

• To be able to respond to the teachers' questions or requests in an understandable manner
• To understand simple and common classroom instruction
• To learn to listen and to understand an increasingly complex text read by adults (observe images and translate their observations into words)
• To know how to use a new lexical and syntactic linguistic tools
• To know how to produce short and proper sentences

PENMANSHIP AND WRITING

Your child will refine her/his graphic skills through drawing activities using different tools (fingers, pens, brushes, pencils...) and different supports.

OBJECTIVES FOR THE YEAR

• To hold a pencil, brush or felt pen properly
• To occupy the whole page
• To be able to follow a pattern
• To adapt one's gesture to the material constraints
• To use drawing to express oneself.

Learning to live together is one of the main objectives of La Petite Ecole. When in class, children enjoy a collective life structured by educational rules and supervised by the adults in charge. Through the experiences of a collective life, through games, workshops and activities led together, children learn the rules that come with living together and that they learn to adapt to each situation. This way, they will gradually develop their personality and find their place among the group.

OBJECTIVES FOR THE YEAR

• To behave according to the constraints of community life
• To know and distinguish the role of the adults in the school
• To respect the rules of the living together: respect for others, listening to others, mutual assistance...

QUANTITIES AND NUMBERS

Your child will be introduced to mathematics through active comparison, distribution and sharing. Gradually he will be able to count through games like memory games, or dominoes ... During practical situations, La Petite Ecole students will become familiar with simple figures and gradually distinguish objects according to their shape (round, square, triangle) and their size (small, large). Children develop observation and deduction skills, and learn to rely on these during experiments to develop thoughts and logical thinking.

OBJECTIVES OF THE YEAR

• Compare, classify and store objects according to their shape and size.
• Count and compare very small quantities.
• Place oneself in space using a spatial vocabulary (front, back, bottom, top).
• Rebuild a fragmented image (puzzle, paving).

DISCOVERING THE WORLD

During their time in La Petite Ecole , students will open up a little more to the world. Through various educational situations, they will learn to use their body, get familiar with their senses and the world around them: animals, plants, natural elements (air, water ...). Through experiences such as planting a flower and watching it grow, taking care of a small animal, or visiting a farm, children's attention is mobilized and their curiosity is stimulated for a complete learning experience.

OBJECTIVES OF THE YEAR

• Learning and following rules of hygiene towards one's body, food, or one's environment.
• Having a first notion of time passing (day, week, month, year ...).
• Discovering one's five senses.
• being able to identify different environments and know some of their characteristics

Daily physical activity is a means of action, exploration and expression that children particularly enjoy. Basic motor activities are encouraged (walking, running, jumping, jumping, climbing, pulling, pushing, throwing...). By responding to children's natural need to move, La Petite Ecole offers children a fun way to improve their motor skills.

OBJECTIVES OF THE YEAR

• Running, jumping, throwing
• Move using unstable elements (bicycles, scooters, tricycles...)
• Participate in group games: throwing, running, catching, avoiding...
• Dancing following a rhythm

In La Petite Ecole , your child will gradually discover new forms of artistic expression that will trigger new experiences. In that class, students are invited to develop their imagination, create, invent and explore different media through drawing, painting, collage, or object making. These activities develop their fine motor skills and their curiosity while developing their appreciation for music and the arts.

OBJECTIVES FOR THE YEAR

• Working collectively on a project.
• Learn and recite rhymes, poetry and songs.
• Playing with the intonations of one's voice.
