SCHOOL LUNCH | LYCEE CANTINE

The Lycée Cantine Project was born from our families’ shared desire to move beyond the daily challenge of lunch boxes and toward a sustainable, long-term solution that provides students with fresh, healthy, and high-quality meals prepared right here at school. It is the result of an ambitious community fundraising effort initiated in Fall 2024, designed to build a professional kitchen that will produce a high-quality, hot and delicious lunch program for students and staff on all three of our campuses.

Meals are prepared in the professional kitchen hosted on the Ashbury campus, and food prepared there is transported to both other campuses. Lunch service is operated by Acre, a Bay Area leader in school-based food programs, that staffs our kitchen and prepares the made-from-scratch meals.

Acre’s mission aligns closely with our goals, emphasizing real and healthy food:

  • Locally sourced and organic when possible
  • Humanely raised, grass-fed meat and free-range poultry
  • In-season local produce
  • Menus are kept intentionally low in sugar

Each lunch includes:

  • A hot entrée (with a vegetarian option)
  • Seasonal side dishes
  • Homemade soup
  • Salad bar
  • Locally-baked breads
  • Dessert: fruit served four days a week, with one day offering a freshly baked sweet treat

The Lycée Cantine will start operations at Back-to-School 2026 -may be even for August summer camps!

LIBRARIES

PRESCHOOL + ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Each of our primary campus has a library rich of many books, magazines, newspapers, and DVDs in French and English. It's a place that students visit each week during class time and that is open to Lycée parents after school on selected days.

Book fairs are held during the school year to provide easy access to parents to a curated selection of children books in French and in English.

Twice a year, we welcome authors in residence who are professionals in children literature (story teller, illustrators,...) who come to work on special projects with students. It's a great way for children to explore books and stories differently.

MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL

In the library, thousands of books, magazines, newspapers and computers are available for students, teachers and staff. Students can go there freely during breaks, at lunch and after class. They can also use this space during projects with their class.

Students and staff can enjoy subscriptions to the Financial Times and the New York Times, as well as Le Monde, Courrier International and Mediapart. These resources are a valuable complement to our academic and cultural environment, encouraging students to stay informed about global, national, and local events. They foster open-mindedness by exploring diverse perspectives and in-depth reporting. They also develop critical thinking and media literacy skills through engagement with reputable journalism.
