Founded by a group of engaged parents in 1967, the Lycée Français de San Francisco (LFSF) is an American private school incorporated in California with a French and American curriculum. It offers a Pre-school through 12th grade education to students of diverse nationalities. LFSF is accredited by the French Ministry of Education, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS). LFSF is a non-profit 501(c)(3) and is governed by a Board of Trustees. LFSF is one of only two schools in the United States that is “conventionné” (under direct contract) by the Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Etranger (AEFE or the Agency for French Education Abroad). The Head of School is appointed by the AEFE under the guidance of the French Ministry of Education.
LFSF is proud to be part of a network of 485 French international schools worldwide lead by the AEFE, and can receive financial support from the French Government. The school is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and of the Association of French Schools in North America (AFSA).
There are currently over 1,000 students enrolled on three campuses around the San Francisco Bay Area.
